How Melbourne Engineering Group collects, uses and looks after personal information through this website and when you contact us.

Last updated: 25 September 2026

Who we are

This website is operated by Melbourne Engineering Group (ABN 45 833 805 927), referred to here as "MEG", "we" or "us". You can contact us about privacy at atbin@melbourneengineeringgroup.com.au or on 0414 057 319.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry

The enquiry form asks for your name, email address, project suburb or postcode, the service you're interested in and a description of your project. You can also choose to give us your phone number, company, project stage and timing. We also record which page of the website you sent the enquiry from.

When you email or call us

We receive whatever you choose to send, which may include plans, drawings, photographs and other project documents.

When you browse the website

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. The website also uses Google's advertising tag (described below), which uses cookies.

How we use it

  • To respond to your enquiry and prepare a proposal
  • To carry out and administer any engineering work you engage us for
  • To keep records we need for professional, insurance and legal purposes
  • To understand whether our online advertising leads to enquiries

We don't sell personal information, and we don't add you to a marketing list because you made an enquiry.

Service providers

We use these providers to run the website and handle enquiries. They may store or process information outside Australia.

  • Formspree receives enquiry form submissions and forwards them to us by email. Formspree is based in the United States. See Formspree's privacy policy.
  • Netlify hosts this website and keeps technical server logs. See Netlify's privacy policy.
  • Google provides the Google Ads tag and the web fonts used on this site. The fonts are loaded from Google's servers, which receive your IP address. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Our email provider stores the emails and attachments you send us.

Advertising, cookies and measurement

This website uses the Google Ads tag to measure whether people who click our ads go on to send an enquiry. The tag uses cookies and records events such as a successful form submission, together with the page it happened on and the service selected. We don't send your name, email address, phone number, file names or project description to Google as part of this measurement.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, and manage Google ad personalisation at Google's ad settings.

Project documents

The website doesn't accept file uploads. Documents you email to us are kept in our email and project records, used only for your project, and are not published. We only publish project details or images with permission.

How long we keep information

We keep enquiry and project information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including the period for which engineering and business records need to be kept for professional, insurance and legal reasons. Enquiries that don't lead to a project are deleted when they're no longer needed.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and we rely on reputable providers. No method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive information that isn't needed for your project.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you by contacting us using the details above. If you have a concern about how we've handled your information, please contact us first and we'll respond. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if the way we handle information changes, for example if we add a new service provider. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
